GOSHEN-Doris A. Oakes, 96 passed away June 9, 2020.  She was born October 17, 1923 in Elkhart to Charles & Mildred (Harman) Vetter.

  On October 9, 1944 she married Jack Pittman; he preceded her in death on June 9, 1971.  On May 22, 1976 she married Emory Miller; he preceded her in death on January 20, 1986.  On October 12, 1990 she married Warren Oakes; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Charles Pittman, 2 siblings, Robert Vetter and Barbara Brown.

  Surviving are  children, Jane (Robert) Baker, James (Cindy) Miller, Pamela Miller, Sandra (Larry) Hurst, Jerry Golden.  Also, daughter-in-law Maria Pittman, 1 brother, Charles Vetter and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

   Doris retired in 1983 from CTS from the Personnel and Group Insurance Departments.  She was a member of the Goshen First United Methodist Church in Goshen, the CTS Quarter Century Club, Y.W.C.A. senior group of Elkhart and the Women of the Moose Chapter #73. 

   Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 12:00p.m (noon)  celebration of life service on June 5, 2021 at  Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Pam Kling will preside and burial will follow in Grace Lawn Cemetery.
