Dennis D. Speas

August 29, 1942 - August 19, 2025

 

Dennis Drake Speas, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2025, he is now with his Lord and Savior forever!

He was born on August 29, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Austin and Peggy (Wood) Speas. On December 28, 1963, he married his Elkhart High School sweetheart, Marcia Twyford in Elkhart, Indiana. 

 

Denny was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1972. He then worked at NIBCO as a marketing sales engineer for 30+ years. He volunteered and served on the Board for Susanna’s Kitchen.

 

Denny was a member of Adamsville Road Church where he taught Sunday school class for many years. He taught, participated and lead many Bible studies in the Elkhart area, including Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). At The Mennonite Seminary in Elkhart, he graduated with a Certificate of Theology.

 

Denny enjoyed playing golf and he played softball many years on a men’s church team. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. With his passion to share and teach about God’s love through Bible studies, he made many friends through the years. 

 

Denny is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, and their son, Dave (Andrea) Speas, Avon, IN, and their daughter, Gina (Andy) DeBartolo, Granger, IN; 3 grandchildren, Vinny DeBartolo, Collin Speas and Emma Speas. Preceding him in death was a brother, Charles Speas.

 

Visitation will be held August 28, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. at Adamsville Road Church with services starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow afterwards in Rice Cemetery. Pastor Glen McClimans of Adamsville Road Church will be officiating the service with Kent Yoder and Paul File. There will be a meal served following the graveside ceremony at Adamsville Road Church. Hors d’ Oeuvres will be served between services.
