David Pfister

ELKHART- David A. Pfister, 81, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.  David was born January 9, 1941, in Elkhart, Indiana to Helen and John Pfister.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Pfister, and Father, John Pfister, as well as his sister Judy Cook.  He is survived by his wife, Karen Pfister, who he married on August 15, 1964.  His daughter, Stephanie Markley (Michael), his son, Bradley Pfister (Tammy), and his two grandchildren Alec Markley and Alexa Pfister.

     David was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and spent his Sundays with his son watching the football games. He also enjoyed long walks and conversation with his daughter.  He was a golfer, a gardener, and the proud business owner of Pfister Promotions for the past 44 years.  He was a very active member of the Elkhart community.  He was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club in Elkhart and a life member of the Elkhart Elks Lodge #425.  David joined the Elks Lodge in 1978 and became a life member in 2009.  He was the Leading Knight from 2012-2013, Exalted Ruler from 2014-2016 and a trustee from 2016 -current.  He also was the chairman of the Student of the Month program at the lodge since 2017.

     David was a crossing guard for Pinewood Elementary School in the mornings and afternoons.  He spent most of his time picking up his grandchildren and grand dogs to take them for ice cream.  He traveled often to support his family.  David was loved and known by many in Elkhart.  His bright personality and positive outlook on life made him a friend to everybody that he encountered.

     In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place.  A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday October 9, 2022, at The Brislo Bistro, 1500 Osolo Road, Elkhart, IN.
