DARLENE PIRTLE
June 18, 1947 – April 21, 2023
ELKHART- Darlene Kay Pirtle, 75, of Elkhart, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Friday April 21, 2023. She was born June 18, 1947, in Sturgis, Michigan to Raymond & Waneta (Alwine) Yoder.
On August 1, 1991, in Elkhart, Indiana she married Rick E. Pirtle. He survives along with 2 daughters, Shelley Cregier, Tracey (Ronnie) Briggs both of Elkhart, IN; 3 grandchildren, Tara Prince, Heather Cregier, Quentin Briggs all of Elkhart and 2 great-grandchildren, Grayson Prince and Maddox Prince. Also surviving is her sister, Marilyn (Scott) Croninger of Union, MI, numerous nieces and nephews and her furry friend King.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Wayne Yoder, and Jerry Alwine and 2 furry friends Queen and Tom.
Darlene graduated in 1965 from Jimtown High School, was a member of the Riverview General Baptist Church, was secretary/treasurer of the church, worked in the food pantry at the church and was a member of the Ladies Missionary group at the church and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA). She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, going Krogering, doing crossword puzzles and taking the grandkids to the zoo. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being a wonderful wife and mom.
Darlene enjoyed singing and helping those in need and was truly a friend to all.
Darlene worked at Gemeinhardt for over 33 years and was a CNA for the Center for Hospice Care, Home Hospice Health Care and Crossroads Home Health Care.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday May 5, 2023, at the Riverview General Baptist Church and from 2-3 p.m. Saturday May 6, 2023, at the church. Her celebration of life service will start at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Riverview General Baptist Church, 1201 E. Indiana Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516.
Her loving husband Pastor Rick Pirtle will render the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church that she dearly loved.
