ELKHART- Danny Earl Swartzell, 64, of Elkhart, died Wednesday June 23, 2021, at his residence in Elkhart.  He was born November 14, 1956, in Elkhart, Indiana to Robert Earl and Anna (Marciszonek) Swartzell.  They preceded him in death along with his long time companion, Brenda Hill who died in October of 2016.

     Surviving are his 2 brothers, Steve K. (Vija) Swartzell and Gary T. Swartzell both of Elkhart.  Also surviving are 2 nieces, Honna (Ross) Gableman of Vandalia, MI, and Krista Kilgren of Elkhart and 2 great-nieces.

     Danny worked for Conrail, Adams & Westlake, E.K. Blessing, APEC Pharmaceuticals, Whitehall Labs, Bayer Inc., and the South Bend Street Department.  He enjoyed NASCAR, loved his dog “Max”, loved feeding the wild turkeys that came into his yard, was an avid Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan and loved riding his Harley whom he called “Izzy.”

Danny graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1975 and was an accomplished gymnast.  He received many awards in competition and placed 2nd in the state finals in high school.  He was known as “Ring Man Dan.”

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. till Noon on Thursday July 1, 2021, at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Thursday for Five Points in Edwardsburg, MI where Chaplain Neil Davis from the Center for Hospice Care will render services for Danny.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Second Chance Small Dog Rescue, PO Box 2403, Elkhart, IN 46515.  Envelopes for donations will be available at the funeral home.
