DANIEL R. MABIE

October 1, 1940 – August 29, 2020

ELKHART- Daniel R. Mabie, 79, of Elkhart, died Saturday August 29, 2020 at his residence.  He was born October 1, 1940 in Elkhart to Arthur & Mary Alice (Atkinson) Mabie.

     On December 28, 1973 he married Sharon L. Sidney.  She preceded him in death on October 30, 2000.  He then married Mary Lou Peffley on September 7, 2002.  She also preceded him in death.

       He was also preceded in death by 3 children, Mark Mabie, Jimmy Mabie, Charlie Boswell, 1 granddaughter, Alisha Mabie, 4 siblings, Gary Mabie, Rolland Mabie, Sharon Renaldi and Vickie Morris.

Surviving is his lady friend, Becky Callan, 4 children, Daniel Mabie, Becky (Troy) Fehnel, Danielle (David) Schwalm, Brian (Heather) Mabie, 1 brother, Thomas Mabie, 6 stepchildren, Kim, Jim, Stacey, Tracey, Tim and Trish.  Also surviving are 35 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. 

     Dan graduated in 1960 from Elkhart High School.  He was a member and past secretary and treasurer of the Elkhart Moose Lodge #599.  He also was a member of the Dunlap American Legion #93 where he served as commander, vice commander and secretary and treasurer.  Dan retired from Bayer where he worked for over 25 years.  He enjoyed playing cards on Saturday night with his siblings, bowling and was also a Golden Glove Boxer. 

     Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday Sept. 3, 2020 from 3-7 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.  Funeral services for Dan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 4, 2020 at the funeral home.  Pastor Delbert Ritchie from the Word of Life Fellowship in Elkhart will preside and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.

     Memorial contributions may be given to the Ribbon of Hope.
