DANA D. HOMO

April 20, 1948 – February 9, 2021

 

 

BRISTOL, IN- Dana D. Homo, 72, of Bristol, died Tuesday February 9, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital.  He was born April 20, 1948 in Elkhart, Indiana to Raymond S. and Carol J. (Stutzman) Homo.

     On June 19, 1971 he married Linda A. Sassaman.  She survives along with 3 children, Adam T. (Nicole) Homo of Elkhart, Kira B. (John Russell) Homo of State College, PA, Malaika M. Homo of Salt Lake City, UT; 2 grandchildren Madelyn Marie Homo and Brayden Tarleton Homo; 2 siblings Tamara (Craig) Houghton of Goshen, IN and Michael (Karen) Christopher of New Carlisle, IN and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

     Dana graduated in 1966 from Elkhart High School.  He received a bachelor’s degree from IU in 1970 and received his master’s degree from Notre Dame in 1976.  He was a member of the NEA and a member of the IATCCC.  He was an avid collector of military miniatures with over 100,000 miniatures.

     Dana was a schoolteacher and a track and cross-country coach for the Elkhart Community School System for over 40 years.  He also was sports reporter for the Elkhart Truth.

     Cremation will take place and Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart High School track and cross-country program.
