Charles “Charlie” L. Parks, 81, passed away August 3, 2024, at his home in Elkhart. He was born April 9, 1943, in Surprise, AZ to Oscar “Sam” & Alma (Everett) Parks.
On May 22, 1963, he married Carolyn Reed; she survives along with 3 children, Charlene (Brian) Oliver, Charlotte Martinez, Jack “Bo” (Holly) Parks, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 siblings and a great-grandchild.
Charlie was a front-end loader at J.H. Baxter for over 40 years until his retirement in 2005. He was a man of God and an active member of Fairfield Baptist Church in Oregon, where he was a predominant leader and sang in the choir. Charlie also enjoyed fishing, boating, and tinkering around. He was a joyfully unconventional husband and father that will be remembered for his great sense of humor, being forever known as “Good Time Charlie”.
Per his wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services. At a later date he will be entombed at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene, Oregon.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
