Cecil Dixon Obituary

ELKHART- Cecil H. Dixon, 94, of Elkhart, died Thursday March 10, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital.  He was born February 7, 1928, in Hammond, Indiana to Ralph J. and Pauline (Fosnough) Dixon.

     He married Joann J. Dilling on August 28, 1949.  She died August 18, 2016.  Surviving are 2 children, Rev. Michael (Peg) Dixon of Paris, IL, and Paula (Michael) Stonestreet of Edwardsburg, MI; 3 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joann, and a brother Gerald Dixon.

     Cecil was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed telling jokes and he and Joann were avid collectors of ceramic chickens.  They are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest ceramic chicken collection.  In his younger years he enjoyed fishing.

     Cecil worked as an Insurance Agent for American General Insurance for many years.  He also worked part time for Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, and he worked as a courier for IOI.

     Funeral services for Cecil will be held on Thursday March 17, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 CR 18, Goshen, IN.  Pastor John Hogsett will preside.  Friends may visit with the family from 12 Noon-2:30 p.m.  Burial will be held privately for family on Friday at Rice Cemetery. 

     Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.  Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
