Carolyn Elvira Saharian

June 2, 1937 – January 31, 2024

Carolyn Elvira Saharian, 86, entered eternal peace on January 31, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was born June 2, 1937, in Providence, Rhode Island to Michael and Edith (Sarzana) Veneziale.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Alex Saharian, on June 16, 1957, in Providence. Three years earlier they went on a blind date and upon returning she told her parents, “I’m going to marry that man.” Alex survives, along with a daughter, Jeannie (Michael) Shahnasarian, and sons, Michael Saharian and Stephen Saharian. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Edward (Margaret) Shahnasarian, Alexis (Yates) Sayers, and Elizabeth (Nicholas) Diganci, along with five great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A nephew, George Shahnasarian, preceded her in death.

Upon graduating from Hope High School in Providence in 1955, she began her career as an administrative assistant at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Her most gratifying employment, however, was as a mom of which she took great pride in raising her children.  Carolyn would have liked to be remembered as being caring, compassionate, and committed to her family and friends.

Special thanks for the love and care provided by the employees of Hubbard Hill and Southern Care Hospice Services, who cared for Carolyn the past 7 years.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, with internment at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
