ELKHART-Carolyn A. Ridgley, 84, passed away March 9, 2022, at her home in Elkhart. She was born February 3, 1938, in Goshen to Harold & Virginia (Baer) Hummel.

On December 17, 1967, in Elkhart she married James Ridgley; he survives along with 5 children, Marilyn (Rodman) Bender, Linda Snider, Cynthia (Bob) Knight, Stephanie Ridgley, Teresa (Mike Webb) Frye, 9 grandchildren, Bodie (Franki) Bender, Brock (Shay) Bender, Blane Bender, Tanner Jerles, Abigail (Alec Schneider) Snider, Megan (R.J. Jones) Miller, Kristin Miller, Joshua Frye, Adam Frye, 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Charlene (Jerry) Hay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kermit Hummel and a son-in-law, Michael Snider.

Carolyn worked for Whitehall Laboratories and Elkhart General Hospital. She also volunteered for the Democratic Precinct in her younger years. Carolyn loved going to the lake, sewing, gardening, canning, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 East Jackson Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46516. Sister Nora Frost will be presiding.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
