GRANGER, IN.- Carol Sue DePrato-Crumet, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, after an extended illness.  She was born December 31st, 1946, in Goshen, Indiana and was adopted at birth to Raymond & Arreda “Rita” (Dobyns) DePrato. 
Carol was a 1965 graduate of Penn High School.  She married Dean W. Lacopo , Jr., on February 27, 1966, at Oceanside, California, and went on to have three sons, all who survive.  They are Tony (Tim) Lacopo, Michael Lacopo and Gregory Lacopo.  Dean preceded Carol in death in 2015.  She spent the majority of her life in Mishawaka, then Granger, Indiana.  She worked at Judd Drugs in Elkhart as a Pharmacy Technician, later in the bakery at Martins Super Market in Granger. 
Carol married the love of her life, Tom Crumet on October 14th, 1989.  He preceded her in death on May 23, 2013.  They were married for 23 wonderful years.  Carol enjoyed photography, traveling, especially the Southwest US, collecting Frankoma Pottery, Elvis, and running an antique booth.  She truly loved all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her two stepdaughters, Dianne (Paul) Zielbauer, Tammy (Mike) Zeigert, as well as her sister, Susan Stover.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry (Arla) Miller and Ted (Darlene) Miller, two sisters Sandra (Gerald) Canen and Dianne (Jeff) Moore.  She reunited with her birth mother, Helen (Timmons) Strukel in November 1982 and spent 5 wonderful years getting to know a whole new family.  Helen preceded her in death in December 1987.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Brooke (Tyler) Saal, Brianna Lacopo, Madison Lacopo, Christine Zielbauer, Andrew Zielbauer, Patrick (Kalli) Zielbauer, Ashley (Dan) Lawson, Mallory (Jason) Kronewitter, Danielle Zeigert, and Nick (Kate) Zeigert,  including 15 great grandchildren. 
Family and friends are invited to the Walley-Mills Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, Indiana, from 11am-1pm on Thursday, November 7th, 2024.  Graveside service will immediately follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, Indiana.  The service will be officiated by Reverand James Fuchs, of St. Thomas the Apostle.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
