Bruce William Rasmussen Obituary
Bruce William Rasmussen
August 27, 1958 – July 15, 2025
Bruce William Rasmussen was born August 27, 1958, in Elkhart, IN to William C. Rasmussen and Mollie S. Rasmussen (Maberry). Bruce was called home on July 15, 2025. He passed at home surrounded by family who loved him deeply. Bruce was 66 years young.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie; brothers Barry and Kelly Rasmussen; his father -in-law and mother-in-law Wayne and Corabelle Replogle (Shaum).
Bruce married Rebecca S. Replogle on December 20, 1980 at Central Christian Church in Elkhart, IN. She was the love of his life, the apple of his eye and he adored her with everything he had. They spent their time living life to the fullest; not wasting a moment. They owned a beautiful boat on Lake Michigan where they spent many summers entertaining family and friends. Bruce was a take charge of everything man; always making sure his guests were taken care of before he even sat. He would cook for hours on end the most delicious meals, tending to every detail and usually not eating until everyone had long gone to bed. He loved being on the water. He was passionate about fishing and would most certainly show you the correct way; his way, from casting, catching and holding the fish. Their boat shined like a diamond as he was a perfectionist and loved taking care of it. But, mostly he loved taking care of Rebecca. They also enjoyed canoeing, motorcycling, camping up north many times with loved ones along. They spent winters at Crystal Mountain skiing which was a very special tradition for them. They also loved snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. There were many trips out west as well. He was always working on some type of project and was prepared to take on anything else you’d put on his plate. Bruce was never one to sit still. If there wasn’t something to do…he’d come up with something.
Bruce had a wonderful sense of humor. He always pretended to be gruff. He loved to dish it out. And, he loved it even more when you would give it right back to him. It truly made him smile. He was talented, smart and had a heart of gold. He was a devoted family man and faithful friend who will be missed dearly. He enjoyed when nieces, nephews and their friends would visit. Especially the younger ones. Soaking all the love in that life had to offer.
Bruce graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1977. He was employed at Haul About Trailers before he passed. Bruce is survived by his parents, William Rasmussen and Ruth Rasmussen (Walter) and his loving wife Rebecca. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law Terry (Peggy) and Dennis (Connie) Replogle; sister-in-law Deborah (Bradly) Pletcher; niece Tiffany (Joseph) Cataldo; great nephews Samuel (Son and daughter Uriah and Azaria) and Gabriel (Sklyar) Cataldo…Great nieces Isabella and Gianna Cataldo; Aunt Eva (Richard) Fountain; Uncle Perry (Vickie) Walter; along with several more nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the “Heart to Heart” Hospice team who helped take such wonderful care of us.
