Beverly Jane “Bev” Burt

April 6, 1930 – March 11, 2026

Beverly Jane “Bev” Burt, 95, of South Bend and formerly of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Wellbrooke of South Bend.

She was born April 6, 1930, in Elkhart, Indiana, to George and Elna (Daub) Sanford.

On September 11, 1948, in Elkhart, she married John D. Burt. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2006, in Islamorada, Florida. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Doug Burt; a daughter, Teri Martin; and a granddaughter, Heidi Hillman-Mueller.

Bev is survived by two daughters, Cindi (Jon) Hillman of Elkhart, Indiana, and Susan (Joe) Schmitt of Grosse Pointe, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bev was known for her fun-loving spirit and her mischievous smile. She loved socializing, cooking meatloaf, shopping, and spoiling her family. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved and cherished the winters she spent in the Florida sunshine.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services, and cremation will take place. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.

Memorial contributions may be given to Wellbrooke of South Bend or Luminary Hospice.
