ELKHART-Betty M. Schmuhl, 99, passed away February 22, 2026, at Hubbard Hill Estates. She was born March 16, 1926, in Elkhart.
On January 13, 1945, in Elkhart she married Gerald Schmuhl; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William “Fred” & Edith (Searer) Pletcher, 2 sons, David Schmuhl, Jeffrey Schmuhl, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and her son-in-law, Gerald Sullivan.
Surviving is her daughter, Linda Sullivan, 2 grandchildren, Scott (Beth) Wood, Angela (Jeff) Bullard, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Betty retired in 1983 from CTS after over 23 years of service. She was also employed with Sun Health Auxiliary at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ and volunteered there, as well as the Elkhart County Humane Society. Betty was a member of Sugar Grove Church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Per her wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services.
