Bernard Lee Cyrus Obituary

Bernard Lee Cyrus, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Friday September 23, 2022, at Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  He was born April 9, 1953, in Grundy, Virginia to Hurshel & Ethel Mae (James) Cyrus.


     On January 4, 1972, in Elizabethtown, KY he married Evon F. Keeling.  She survives along with 1 son, Allen L. (Heather) Cyrus of Elkhart, 2 grandchildren, Sydney & Cy Cyrus, 4 siblings, Virginia Scarberry, Linda Ayers, Wilma (Jerry) Schrock all of Elkhart and Dennis (Darlene) Cyrus of Goshen.  Also surviving is


 a sister-in-law, April Keeling of Mishawaka and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Cyrus.


     Bernard was formerly employed as an automobile mechanic at Chuck Manns Service in Elkhart.  He enjoyed doing small engine repairs, hunting, camping, going to yard sales and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a diehard Chevy man to the very end.


     Cremation will take place and celebration of life gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday September 30, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.


     Memorial contributions may be given to any Dementia charity.
