Barbara A. Gray, 93, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, died Tuesday August 9, 2022, at Camden Health & Rehabilitation in Greensboro, NC.  Barbara was born July 21, 1929, in Jacksonville, Illinois to Henry F. & Letha (Slagle) Kaehlert.

     On October 1, 1955, she married Elmer M. Gray.  He preceded her in death on March 21, 1993.  Surviving are 3 children, Janet Wickstrom (Lon Ancheta) of Elkhart, Robert Gray (Carol McKenzie) of Elkhart, Teresa John (Dr. James John) of Greensboro, NC; 6 grandchildren: Brandi Pattee, Nicholas Wickstrom, Eric Gray, Travis John, Austin John, Nathan John; 9 great-grandchildren: Abbi Pattee, Olivia Pattee, Kendra Pattee, Daniel Wickstrom, Thomas Wickstrom, Brody Gray, Isabella Gray, Bekah Collins, and Valerie John.  Also surviving is a sister, Dolores Cannon of Winchester, IL and many nieces and nephews.

     Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, and a grandson Nicholas Wickstrom.

     Barbara was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Elkhart and was very active in the church activities.  She enjoyed quilting, doing puzzles and reading.  She retired from Banks Lumber Company, Inc., in 1998 after working there for over 42 years.  After she retired, she continued to work for Glen Banks for 10 years.

     Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 18, 2022, at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, 600 E. Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514.  Pastor Dave Lade will preside and burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family for 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church.

     Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.  Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
