Arthur "Art" L. Lambright Obituary

Arthur L. Lambright

August 7, 1942 – November 3, 2025

Elkhart, Indiana

Arthur “Art” L. Lambright, 83, of Elkhart, passed away on November 3, 2025.

He was born at home in LaGrange County, Indiana, on August 7, 1942, to Amos Lambright and Ella (Miller) Shively.

Art was a man of strong faith, deep love for his family, and a lifelong passion for sports — especially baseball. He could talk for hours about the game he loved and never lost his enthusiasm for it. A true movie buff, Art enjoyed watching every kind of film and was known for his detailed retellings that made you feel like you were watching right alongside him.

Art spoke passionately about the Lord to everyone he met — even if they did not always want to hear it. He was a devoted Christian. His faith was the foundation of his life.

He attended Knights Baptist Church in Plant City, Florida, before moving back to Indiana eight years ago to be closer to his family. After returning home, he attended First Baptist Church of Elkhart, where he enjoyed fellowship and showing off pictures of his loved ones to friends at church.

In recent weeks, he mentioned dreams of his late wife, Shirley, and of his sons’ late mother, Marilyn. A comfort to those who love him, believing they were there to welcome him home.

A 1961 graduate of Goshen High School, Art remained close with many of his classmates, meeting with them monthly to share memories and friendship that spanned decades.

Starting with just a pencil and paper then progressing with the invention of CAD. He worked as a draftsman for many years and several different manufacturers. Drawing everything from an outhouse to million dollar homes he took great pride in his work and often joked that each one was truly a “work of Art.”

Art is survived by his sons, Michael (Amy Peloza) Lambright of Anchorage, Alaska, and Benjamin (Hope) Lambright of Elkhart, Indiana; stepchildren Bruce Welch, Steve York, and LeAnn Marvelli,  all of Florida; grandchildren Erin Lambright, Adam Lambright, Kay Parks, Morgan Hutchens (all of Elkhart), Elizabeth Warren of Niles, Michigan, and Marshall Browning of Shinnston, West Virginia; and eight great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Surviving siblings include Homer (Erma) Lambright, Jim Lambright, Bob Shively, June Wilson, Ella Jane (Bud) Springer, Betty Patterson, and sister-in-law Sylvia Lambright.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (York) Lambright; parents, Amos Lambright and Ella (Miller) Shively; stepson Robbie Welch; siblings JoAnn Nafziger, Gene Lambright, and Marie Hershberger; and sister-in-law Jo Lambright.

Art will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and church community. His faith, kindness, and storytelling spirit will live on in all who knew him.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a service following at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.   Pastor Don Billey will be officiating.
