ARLENE A. SOUTHERN

January 19, 1935 – December 26, 2023

ELKHART- Arlene A. Southern, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday December 26, 2023, at her residence in Elkhart.  She was born January 19, 1935, in Coldwater, Michigan to Earl & Mary Velma (Eakins) Foley.

     On August 27, 1952, she married Ronald E. Southern, Sr.  He preceded her in death on July 12, 2023.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, her sister and brother in-law Loris & Robert Stallwood and her son-in-law Craig Losee.

Arlene is survived by 7 children, Ronda K. Losee, Lou Anne Eaton both of Elkhart, Terha L. (Dennis) Pernell, Ron E. Southern, Jr., both of Goshen, James D. (Sarah) Southern of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lisa M. Wordleman of Cassopolis, MI, Bradley K. (Tammy) Southern of Plymouth, IN.  Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren.

     Arlene graduated in 1953 from Elwood High School.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden and doing crafts.

     Cremation will take place and a graveside service for Arlene will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 6, 2024, at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.  Bill Zimmerman will render the service.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
