Albert (Al) L. Rowe, 79, of Elkhart died at home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Albert was born in Elkhart on September 25, 1945, to Albert R. & Mary E. (Piedmont) Rowe. 

In 1991, he married Sally Neal in Elkhart, and she survives along with daughter Tammy (Jeff) Matz of Florida, grandchildren Leah (Gatlin) Rassi, Reid (Macy O'Malley) Matz, also of Florida, and Carlie (Jeff) Smith of Inverness, IL, great grandchildren Walker, Winnie, Rhett, Jett, Olivia and Finley, and Tammy's mom Shelby (Carl) Myers. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Susan (Mitch) Anderson of Elkhart, nephew Benjamin Anderson of South Bend, niece Catelyn Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Jo Zimmerman.

Albert graduated from Elkhart High in 1964, and was subsequently drafted into the US Army in October 1965, spent a year in Long Binh, Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1967.

Albert worked for decades in purchasing roles for the manufactured home and recreational vehicle industries, retiring from Forest River in 2019. 

He was an avid golfer, having been a member of the Christiana Creek Country Club for 40+ years, beginning as a caddy in his teens when it was a 9-hole course. He was a huge football and college basketball fan, and will be coaching his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team from heaven, as they compete in the upcoming playoff. He admitted to being a Chicago Bears fan despite decades of disappointment, and was very proud of his 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs. 

Albert will be remembered for his wry wit and for just being one of the good guys. We will miss him terribly.
