Walter E. Lienhart

WALTER E. LIENHART January 27, 1930 - April 2, 2018 ELKHART- Walter E. Lienhart, 88, of Elkhart, passed away April 2, 2018 at the Elkhart Hospice House. He was born January 27, 1930 in Elkhart to the late Charlie & Tursia (Yoder) Lienhart. On September 2, 1951 he married Josephine M. Neidballa. She survives along with 4 children, Kay Marie (Jerry) Adkins, Kenneth S. (Debra) Lienhart, Susan R. (Michael) Kime, Dennis R. (Ginger) Lienhart all of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Everett Lienhart of Elkhart, Donald (Sandy) Lienhart of Tempe, AZ and a sister, Nancy Kline of Bristol. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Lillian Kelly, Marjorie Glanders and Doris LaBrie. Walt graduated from Concord High School in 1948 and served in the US Navy from 1950 - 1954 and received an honorable discharge. He was a longtime member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church, Dunlap Lions Club and the Michiana Rental Association. In his younger years Walt was a member of the 4H Club and raised the first Grand Champion Heifer. He also was very active in the CMA when his children were in High School. Walt enjoyed traveling, going to garage sales and working on his rental properties. He retired in 1992 from CTS as a Tool & Die maker, having worked there for 29 years. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Dunlap United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 7, 2018 at the church. Pastor Jerry Turner will preside and burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery where the US Navy Honor Guard and the Elkhart DAV will render military honors.
