ELKHART- Opal Pearl Speicher, 84 of Plymouth and formerly of Elkhart, passed away Friday February 16, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth. She was born October 14, 1933 in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada to the late Noah & Olive (Snyder) Swalm. On August 18, 1955 she married the Rev. E. Wayne Speicher. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2014. Surviving are 2 children, Dr. Bruce W. (Jennita) Speicher, D.O. of Bourdon, IN, Anita K. (Fred) Luster of Wakarusa, IN; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy L. Speicher, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Opal was a member of the Indiana Teachers Association, a former national president of the Women's Ministries of the Missionary Church and a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church. She taught in the Mishawaka School System from 1955 - 1960 and was a school teacher from 1968 - 1985 at the Penn-Harrison-Madison School System, retiring in 1985. A graveside service for Opal will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 22, 2018 at Prairie Street Cemetery. Pastor Brent Poe will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to World Partners of the Missionary Church. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
