Mildred Augustine David

ELKHART- Mildred A. David, 89, passed away September 6, 2017 at Elkhart Hospice House. She was born September 20, 1927 in Mobile, AL to the late Sylvan & Mildred (Staton) Isom. On August 29, 1947 in Manhattan, NY she married Abel David; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2015. Surviving is 1 son: Abel David, Jr. of Warsaw, IN, 2 daughters: Sandra R. (Clifton B.) Cox of North Canton, OH and Gale Y. (Edward Harris) David of Bristol, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 5 siblings: Renetta Ludgood, Milton Isom, Dr. Adolph Isom all of Mobile, AL, Ceola Barnes of Queens, NY and Lamont Isom of Arlintgon, TX. Mildred was initially a homemaker before becoming a CNA at Holyname Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ for 15 years and in her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, playing organ and piano, and listening to hymnal music. When Abel was still alive she also enjoyed bible study with him. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 1 pm funeral service Monday, September 11, 2017 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery and Pastor Clifton B. Cox will preside. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart Hospice House or the Alzheimer's Association.
