Janice E. Hartman

ELKHART-Janice E. Hartman, 74, passed away November 15, 2017 at her home in Elkhart. She was born August 19, 1943 in Elkhart to James & M. Irene (Smith) Geairn. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson; James Hartman. On May 11, 1963 in Elkhart she married the love of her life Roger P. Hartman; he survives along with 3 sons; Mike (Tina) Hartman, Tim (Monica) Hartman, David (Paula) Hartman, a former daughter-in-law Mary Middaugh, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers; Tom (Bette) Geairn, Jimmy Geairn, 2 brother-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law and numerous other family members. Janice graduated from Jimtown High School in 1961 she went on to work for 10 years at Robertson's Department Store and 30 years at Elkhart General Hospital before retiring. She did many things throughout her life including being a Den mother for Cub Scout Pack 104 and a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her flower garden, collecting angels, watching the Jimmies play football and her sons, grandsons and great-grandsons wrestle. Janice was a devote Christian and a member of the Jimtown Family Church of the Nazarene since 1984. She was loved and will be missed by many. Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
