OSCEOLA- Henrietta Maurine Rice, 89, of Osceola, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Creekside Village in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on June 16, 1928 in Woodworth, IL to John D. and Lena (Meyer) Meents. Survivors include two daughters, Terrie Bailey and Shelley (husband James) Laughman, both of Elkhart, IN; One son, Philip (wifeTeresa) Rice of Tucson, AZ; One brother, Terry Meents (wife Billie) of Columbus, IN; four granddaughters, Tracie (husband Kevin) Rodgers of Ocala, FL, Gretchen (husband Chad) Marks of Sumter, SC, Kimberley (husband Garrett) Ewen of Granger, IN and Kandace (husband Jason) Collins of Granger, IN; one grandson, Jamie Laughman of Carmel, IN; fifteen great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Nathan, Halie, Amber, Kyle, Kirstin and Zander Rodgers; Logan and Bailey Marks; Caden, Gavin and Linzie Ewen; Kelsey, Morgan and Reece Collins as well as extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Lance Rice; one sister, Rosalie Mabbitt and her former husband, George Lee Rice. She was a member of the National Scrabble Association and often enjoyed spending time reading, working word puzzles and a love for horses. Private committal services will take place on a later date.
