Elaine L. Hettinger

ELKHART- Elaine L. Hettinger, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Friday October 12, 2018 at her home. She was born March 2, 1949 in Muncie, Indiana to Charles & Betty Jean (Raines) Thompson. On July 2, 1968 in Bristol, Indiana she married Ernest J. Hettinger Jr. He survives along with a daughter, Ginger Hamby of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Kassidy L. Crimmins, Logan D. Frye, Kanyon J. Hamby and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 2 sisters, Judy and Cheryl and a grandson, Breckin Hamby (a wonderful redhead like her). She graduated in 1968 from Constantine High School. Elaine was a hair stylist at many local salons, but most of all she loved working at Westside Elementary School in the lunch program, where the students called her grandma. She had many friends and family that dearly loved her! She was always the first one to react to a dare. Elaine loved crocheting, knitting, painting and doing various other crafts. Funeral services for Elaine will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Marge Braden with the Center for Hospice Care will preside and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the service on Tuesday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her care givers from hospice, especially Jeanette, Jessica and Marge for all of their love and care.
