Dennis Kovach Obituary

Dennis P. Kovach, 80, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday February 26, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born September 20, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana to Alex & Addie (Senff) Kovach. He married Kathryn Moore who preceded him in death on November 15, 1991. He then married Linda Jean Sutton on March 13, 1998. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2015. Surviving is a step daughter, Lisa L. (Timothy) Dykes, a grandson, Jacob Dykes both of Elkhart; a son-in-law, Charles (Alma) Weaver, 2 grandchildren, Maxwell Weaver, MacKenzie Weaver all of Elkhart; 2 siblings, Judy (Jim) Sinkiewicz of Berrien Springs, MI and Joseph (Christine) Kovach of Jenison, MI. Also surviving are 4 nieces, Jamie (David) Stacey of Berrien Springs, MI, Kelly Sinkiewicz of St. Joseph, MI, Amy (Chris) Fleck of Jenison, MI, Anne (Walter) Scott of Forest Lake, MN; a nephew, Jason Kovach; numerous great nieces and great nephews; his furry best friend, "Dolly". The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Pam Shankle of Elkhart; an extra special friend Skip Karasch of Osceola and a special great niece, Erika Stacey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Denise Weaver and two wives, Kathryn and Linda. Dennis graduated in 1956 from Washington High School in South Bend. He served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed skeet shooting, mowing his yard and restoring classic cars. Dennis was an avid Green Bay Packer and IU Basketball fan. Dennis was the former owner of Denny's Maple City Vending. In keeping with his wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
