ALTIE MAE KERN August 5, 1932 - June 27, 2019 ELKHART- Altie Mae Kern, 86, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday June 27, 2019 at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. She was born August 5, 1932 in Humboldt, TN to Ernest & Lillian (Lovell) Quinn. She married Wilson Mathias who preceded her in death in 1985. She then married Floyd Kern who also preceded her in death in 1996. Surviving are 2 sisters, Lorene King of Jackson, TN, Mary Yvonne Sanders of Elkhart; 3 grandchildren, Brian Mathias of Elizabeth, NC, Alicia Albarran, Stanish Tapia both of Elkhart; 8 great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Marissa, Ricky, Ruben, Jacob, Destiny, James and Brian, Jr. Also surviving is a great great grandson, Darkiell. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, 3 children, Diane Mathis, Victoria Mathias, Ricky Mathis; 2 grandchildren, Colon & Kenny; 1 great grandchild, Chance; 3 brothers and a sister. Altie worked as a sales associate for Walmart in the fabric and crafts department. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the Casinos and attending yard sales. A celebration of life service for Altie will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday July 2, 2019 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Chaplain Neil Davis from the Center for Hospice Care will preside.
