Charles "Bob" Bressler Obituary

ELKHART- Charles (Bob) Robert Bressler of Elkhart, Indiana passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence in Albany, Indiana at 8am on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Bob was born September 15, 1930 in Elkhart, Indiana to Charles Bressler, Sr. and Myrtle (Stealy) Bressler. He was a 1948 graduate of Elkhart High School where he excelled as a student and achieved an IQ of 164. He would join NIBCO Corporation and hold various positions including President of NIBCO Sales in Denver Colorado and National Sales Manager of the Fittings Division. He also held positions as National Sales Manager of Qest Products, Vanguard Plastics, and US Brass, and President of Aqua Engineering of Denver Colorado.

Bob was a talented percussionist and beloved member of the Elkhart Municipal Band for 55+ years. His lifetime of ensemble involvement includes the Elkhart Municipal Band, the Elkhart Symphony Orchestra, the Denver Colorado American Legion Post #1's Drum and Bugle Corp, and the Elkhart New Horizons Band.

He also served in the Indiana National Guard, was an active member and usher at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Elkhart, and a former member of Grace Bible Church of Elkhart.

Bob was a voracious reader who enjoyed reading two to three books a week and a sports enthusiast. As a child, he loved collecting butterflies and moths and spending his summers at Stone Lake in Middlebury, Indiana. An ambitious paper boy with around 200 customers, he saved up enough money by 18 years old to purchase a 1949 Oldsmobile V8 “Rocket.”

Bob was married to Norma Jean Yarbrough from June 9, 1951 until her death on March 4, 2006. He is survived by his wife of nearly 17 years, Louann Adams; son, Gary (Lisa) Bressler; daughter, Darla (Gary) Hurt; step-daughter, Jenifer (Brad) Bond; grandchildren Crystal, Brittney, Olivia, Misty (Patrick), Benjamin, Emma (Christopher), and six great-grandchildren.
