Thomas E. Wickert

ELKHART- Thomas E. Wickert, 79, of Elkhart, passed away Monday April 23, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born February 15, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois to Edward & Frieda V. (Wetzler) Wickert. Tom was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1962-1964 and received and honorable discharge. He was a long-time Elkhart homebuilder & developer and former president of the Elkhart Homebuilders Association. He loved watching families settle and their children grow in his housing subdivisions. He also enjoyed fishing both on the many nearby lakes and on the Florida Gulf Coast. Tom is survived by his beloved daughter-in-law, Tricia Wickert and his two grandchildren, Gus and Kyra. He is also survived by his nieces and a nephew, numerous great nieces and nephews and his longtime friend Kathy McNichols. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James and his son, Edward all of whom he missed dearly. Family and friends will gather at the Matterhorn in Elkhart from 1-5 p.m. Saturday May 5, 2018 to celebrate Tom's loving and generous life.
