Richard M. "Dick" Replogle October 22, 1918 - June 8, 2018 ELKHART- Richard M. "Dick" Replogle, 99, of Elkhart, passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at Eastlake Terrace. He was born October 22, 1918 in Elkhart to Harold & Blon (Newall) Replogle. On November 10, 1940 he married Marjorie D. Day. She preceded him in death on August 29, 1998. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Alice M. Carlberg of Elkhart; nieces and nephews Gary Cone of Ft. Myers, FL, Sharel Sager of Harrison, Arkansas, Dennis Cone of Opelika, Alabama, Terry Cone of Arkansas, Richard Cone of Vass, NC and Jayna Story of Alabama. Also surviving are numerous great nieces and nephews and many friends. Also a special friend, Jeanne Nelson of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife Marge, parents and 2 siblings, Ruby Cone and Berne Replogle. Richard was a US Army veteran serving in W.W.II for 4 years in Europe and Africa going through North Africa, Sicily and France invasions receiving the Distinguished Service Cross. He also was awarded the Bronze star Medal for meritorious service in action from 26 November 1944 to 1 April 1945 in France and Germany. After the war Richard spent many years with Miles Laboratories and retired after 22 years of service as an electronic engineer. This special man will be missed by all. In keeping with his wishes cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday June 15, 2018 at Prairie Street Cemetery. Joe Emmerth with Harbor Light Hospice will preside and military honors will be rendered by the US Army honor guard. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with his care.
