ELKHART- Lilian G. Souders, 91, passed away peacefully in Elkhart on February 23, 2017. She was born on June 12, 1925 to the late Albert and Lilian Rose (Hinton) Cox in South Hampton, England. At the age of fourteen, Lilian served as one of the youngest Air Raid Wardens during WWII in her hometown. In later years, she met and married her husband, the late John Souders. They were wed in South Hampton on December 27, 1945. Ms. Souders was a past member of the Caledonian Club and the Elkhart Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all the lives she touched. Lilian is survived by her daughter, Barbara Slauf of Elkhart; grandchildren, Anthony, Jennifer, Mallory, Jonathon, and Marie; great-grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Rogan, Grant, Laila, Phoenix, Jasmine, and Zachary, five step-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters and 2 brothers in South Hampton. In addition to her parents and husband, Lilian was preceded in death by one son, David Souders, one daughter, Joan Jodway, a grandson, Michael Souders, and three sisters. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with Lilian's arrangements. In keeping with her wishes, a Memorial Service will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday March 4, 2017, at the Adamsville Road Church of God located at 51287 CR 7N, Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Mike Stadelmayer officiating.
