Kathy Lynn Shroyer October 20, 1956-April 11, 2018 Kathy Lynn Shroyer age 61, passed away on April 11th, 2018 in her home in Elkhart, IN. She was the partner and best friend of Donald "Boo" Trueblood. They shared 26 years of life together. Born in Sturgis MI, she was the daughter of Charles and Elinor Shroyer. She graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1974. In Elkhart she had worked as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) for East Lake Nursing Center and later for Harbor Light Hospice. As a hospice CNA, she truly bloomed in her role as a caregiver providing comfort measures for those coming to the end of their lives' journeys. Deeply compassionate and funny, she was often the final friend and advocate for her patients. She helped them overcome their final days with dignity. Her hobbies were playing the guitar and the piano, camping, and writing. Her dream project was to write a book about the lessons that she learned as a hospice CNA. She hoped that this would aid others who embark on hospice-care as a career, a calling that is both emotionally taxing and spiritually rewarding. She will be remembered as a woman who was funny, intelligent, caring, personable, passionate and strong. She is survived by Boo, her kids: Brian Kirk and his wife (Angie); Damien Kirk and his wife (Lori); Danielle Goodman and her husband (Jason), Harley Trueblood and his wife (Katelynn); Jacob Mazurek and his wife (Milena), Jill Weiss and her husband (Richard); and by her grandkids: Cameron Weiss, Daniel Weiss, Isabella Mazurek, Kiersten Weiss and Michael Orange. There will be a private scattering of her ashes, by her children, with no scheduled viewing. Kathy had a profound love for wolves.
