Jo Ann Benn

ELKHART- Jo Ann Benn, 76, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 at the Elkhart Hospice House. She was born June 30, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to Joseph & Georgia Cleoria (Stone) Ott. On May 17, 2002 in South Bend she married Charles Lee "Butch" Benn. He survives along with five children, Todd (Norma) Breden of Osceola, Lisa Smith of Elkhart, Lolita Breden of Middlebury, Chris Cotter of Mishawaka, Charles "Butch" Benn of South Bend; eleven grandchildren, Joshua Todd Schirr, Jennéa Reshelle Schirr, Hunter Logan Schuelke, Eric Michael Smith, Vincent Breden, Donnie Shaffer, Rachel Shaffer, Nicholas Benn, Bryan Benn, Amy Newcomer, Bobby Newcomer; fifteen great-grandchildren and a sister, Lois Aulbaugh of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Christopher Martin Smith and a sister, Barbara Kay Bishop. Jo Ann was a member of the Apostolic Temple in South Bend and a member of the Grace Point Apostolic Church in Osceola. She enjoyed helping out at the church, sewing, doing crafts and was a blood donor at Elkhart General Hospital for many years. Jo Ann worked for Conrail for over 20 years as a cook and waitress and also worked for Emerson Flute Company for over 20 years as an assembler. In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her care.
