Jim D Weaver

UNION- Jim D. Weaver, 76, of Union, passed away Sunday Feb. 26, 2017 in Elkhart. He was born March 15, 1940 in Elkhart to Leo D. & Frances E. (Von Krusensterna) Weaver. Surviving are two sisters, Donna (John) VanHorn of Elkhart, Vicky Davis of Edwardsburg; his former wife and lifelong companion, Margaret A. Weaver of Elkhart; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and his faithful dog, Pepper Dale. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Weaver and four sisters, Gloria Gerring, Delores Fulton, Betty Branum and Shirley Parker. Jim served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1966. He enjoyed fishing, loved animals and was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. He retired from Conrail after 20 years of service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Rice Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered by the US Navy and the Elkhart DAV. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
