ELKHART- Evangeline M. "Vangie" Foster, 95, of Elkhart, passed away Friday September 8, 2017 at her home. She was born October 16, 1921 in Elkhart to the late George & Clara (Taska) Blubaugh. On July 31, 1943 she married John L. Foster. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. Surviving are 2 children, John L. (Lynn) Foster II of Fairfax, VA, Cynthia A. (Jerry) Vaughn of Elkhart; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Sukow, Sarah Hunter, Christina (Mark) Burroughs, Amanda (Chris Allison) Foster, J.D. (Brittany) Foster, Hannah Foster; 7 great-grandchildren, Chaise, Logan, Travis, Samatha, Jaxon, Riley and Parker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Blubaugh and a sister, Ester Franger. Vangie graduated in 1940 from Elkhart High School. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Rosary Society at the Church and was a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels for 10 years. She also was a member of the Mary-Martha Quilting Group and a former member and president of the Lady Elks and former president and member at large of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. Vangie and her husband John were the owners of Foster Appliance on Main Street in Elkhart for over 35 years. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 12, 2017 funeral service at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Fr. Levi Nkwocha from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic will preside and burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice.
