Eleanor L. Godfrey

Eleanor L. Godfrey, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2017 at Golden Living Center. She was born October 27, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Tobias & Louise (Rist) Gable. On May 22, 1948 she married Stuart "Bud" Godfrey. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1991. Surviving are two sons, Robert (Bonnie) Godfrey of Fremont, IN, Jeffrey (Gay) Godfrey of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Ralph (Carole) Gable of Seymour, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Stuart L. Godfrey, a daughter Sharon Raeder and a brother, Ernest Gable. Eleanor was homemaker who enjoyed shopping, watching TV and most of all spending time with her family. She also was a member of the California Road Missionary Church. Funeral services for Eleanor will be held at Noon Saturday March 4, 2017 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Pastor Bud Walterhouse from the California Road Missionary Church will preside and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family for 2 hours prior to the service on Saturday.
