Doug J. Wise

MIDDLEBURY- Doug J. Wise, 69, of Middlebury, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born October 12, 1948 in South Bend to Ernest G. and Doris (Hight) Wise. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca S. (Staley) Wise of Middlebury; three sons, Ron (Pasty) Fireline of Oklahoma, Stacy "Butch" Wise of Elkhart and Terry Wise of Middlebury; two daughters, Sherrie (George) Sanders of Goshen and Hope (Ben) Lambright of Elkhart; sister, Sharon (Rick) Luke of California; brother, Dennis Wise of Elkhart; 14 grandchildren, Doug, Tony, Monica, Alex, Elizabeth, Kayla, Kay, Jessie, Marshall, Morgan, Amariya, Thea, Adrain and Karlia; 21 great-grandchildren and nine children he and his wife fostered. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Teri Hook; daughter, Tammy Wise and granddaughter, Breanna Muler. Doug proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1970. Doug was formerly employed in the RV industry for several years prior to his retirement. He often enjoyed spending time fishing, boating, hunting, model trains, shooting darts and most of all teasing his family and friends. He had a great personality and was loved by many. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23rd from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and 1 hour prior to the 1:00 PM funeral service on Wednesday, January 24th at 1:00 PM at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 East Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. Pastor Terry Powell will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or the American Lung Association in memory of Doug.
