BEVE F. GARLAND May 22, 1943 - January 7, 2017 GOSHEN- Beve F. Garland, 73, of Goshen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday Jan. 7, 2017 at his home. He was born May 22, 1943 in Barbourville, Kentucky to Marion & Dora Ann (Helton) Garland. On December 8, 1981 in Las Vegas, NV he married Sharon K. Hoopingarner. She survives along with five children, Richard (Janet) Watson of Goshen, David (Vikki) Garland of Bremen, IN, Steve (Bonnie) Garland of Florence, AZ, Greg (Pam) Garland of Gilbert, AZ, Jeff Watson of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Darrell (Tammy) Garland, Margie Akins both of Williamstown, KY, Dora Lee Garland of Crittenden, KY, Beverly (C.B.) Honeycutt of Corbin, KY. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings, James, DeWayne, Norman, Terry, Shirley Patterson, and Etta Sue Goley. Beve was a Vietnam veteran serving proudly in the US Army from 1962 -1967. He received 2 purple hearts and the combat infantry badge. Beve enjoyed working in his yard, was an avid sports fan who loved baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed going to Arizona to watch spring training. He also was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan and was a member of the Beulah Missionary Church in Goshen. Beve worked for Whitehall Labs in Elkhart and Wyeth as a line mechanic/machinist in Virginia for a combined total of 32 years, working from 1968 - 2000. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday Jan. 13, 2017 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 14, 2017 at the Beulah Missionary Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Jan. 14, 2017 at the Beulah Missionary Church. Pastor Earl Smith will preside and full military honors will be rendered by the US Army honor guard and the Elkhart DAV immediately following the service at the church.
