Albert "Skip" L. Strukel

ELKHART- Albert L. "Skip" Strukel, Sr., 77, of Elkhart passed away Wednesday December 13, 2017 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born February 27, 1940 in Elkhart to Albert Anton & Ruth Ellen (Stine) Strukel. On July 28, 1962 he married Anita E. Koski. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2010. He then married Judith (White) Nicely- Woodworth on August 21, 2010. Judy survives along with 2 children, Robin (Barry) Krofcheck of Amity, PA, Albert (Elizabeth) Strukel, Jr. of Cassopolis, MI; 4 grandchildren, Rachel, Albert James, Grace and Rebecca. Also surviving are 3 step sons, Bill C. (Dawn) Nicely, Jr., of Goshen, Troy J. (Kris) Woodworth, Jason C. (Cherie) Woodworth both of Elkhart; 2 step daughters, Cheryl (Adam) Rassi of Elkhart, Anne-Marie (Kevin) Ronske of South Bend; a daughter in law, Amy Nicely of Elkhart; 20 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, the wife of his children, Anita Koski Strukel; a granddaughter, Lauren Krofcheck; a step son, Robert Scott Nicely; 2 brothers, Jerry Strukel, Anton Strukel ; 2 half-brothers, Michael Strukel and Dennis Freeman. Albert served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 - 1973. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg, MI, attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Elkhart and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger and was a member of the Elkhart Marine Corps League. "Skip" as he was known enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, gardening, traveling and bowling. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd. Elkhart, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday December 18, 2017 at the funeral home. Rev. Larry Smith, Rev. Jennifer Weaver and Deacon Barry Krofcheck will preside. Full military honors will be rendered by the USMC Honor Guard and the Elkhart Marine Corps League immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society, Calvary United Methodist Church or St. Pius X Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
