Thomas F. Nolan, 49, 20057 C.R. 14, Bristol, died Friday at Bernard Mitchell Hospital, Chicago, Ill.

He was born May 3, 1963 in Hammond to George and Kathleen (Williams) Nolan. He married Carrie Ann Doyen on June 4, 1988 at Central Christian Church in Valparaiso.

Thom graduated from Westville High School in 1981 and from Valparaiso University in 1985 as a bio/chemistry double major.

He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1991, completed an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in 1994, and finished a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago in 1996. He worked as a cardiologist at Elkhart Clinic and Elkhart General Hospital for 15 years.

He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease as well as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He served in several leadership positions at Elkhart Clinic and Elkhart General, including chairman of the Board of Managers.

Thom was a member of Sugar Grove Church where he and his family have attended for 15 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially farming and chopping wood. He loved dogs and anything John Deere.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie (Doyen) Nolan and five children, Rachel, Jacob, Sarah, Emma and Samuel Nolan of Bristol; his father, George Nolan of Jones, Michigan; a sister Debbie (Don) Hayworth of Portage; three brothers, Michael Nolan of Jones, Michigan, John (Stacy) Nolan of LaPorte and George (Rebecca) Nolan of LaPorte.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Nolan.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sugar Grove Church.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sugar Grove with Pastor Rick Gering officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ribbon of Hope, 600 East Blvd Elkhart, IN 46514, or to his family in lieu of flowers.
